Historic Smithville Transforms into Christmas Wonderland This Weekend
Family, friends, and neighbors spread the word; the Town of Historic Smithville is transforming into a must-see holiday destination! The list of things to see and activities to do is truly incredible.
My family loves Christmas and Santa Claus. My 10-year old Alex listens to 92.7 WOBM and sings along to all the Christmas songs. My wife and Alex do Christmas right from late November to December 25th. They'll bake Christmas goodies, make the Christmas tree sparkle with lights and tinsel, and decorate the interior and exterior. A few years back we got to ride Santa's Express train. For all these reasons, I'm dying to take them to Smithville. Check out this list of things to see and do!
They'll kick off the Light Show on the Lake this Thanksgiving weekend and go through January 4th. This is an insane light show synchronized to holiday hits and displayed over Lake Meone. They boast impressive numbers, "Over 120 Christmas Trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights." Even better, it is FREE!
Another must is the Magic Talking Christmas Tree. My Christmas tree never did that, but this one is located near the Smithville Train Station and is a gift from Santa's forest.
Want to take a ride on the choo-choo-train? In this case the Smithville Train tracks take you around the outer edge of Smithville.
Ever seen a musical version of "A Christmas Carol?" Now you can with Dickens Fest. The shows are filled with fantastic actors, including children from the community. There's even a sing-along. Bring the family, this too is FREE. There are three showings, December 12th at 1p and 7p and Sunday December 13th at 1p.
