Berkeley, NJ man arrested for shooting at a man while driving on the Garden State Parkway
New Jersey State Police have arrested a man who allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at another vehicle driving near Exit 80 south on the Garden State Parkway.
The manic series of events unfolded January 12 at a gas station in Manchester Township where the victim was in an altercation with the man who ended up shooting at him, who was driving a black Dodge Charger.
While the altercation ended at the gas station in Manchester, it picked up again after both drivers went off going in the same direction and encountered each other again on the Garden State Parkway heading southbound towards Exit 80 when the man in the Dodge Charger fired a gun that struck the other vehicle.
During the course of the shooting, the victim suffered a non-life threatening injury to his knee and was brought to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment by another person in his car.
The suspect fled the scene but the victim was able to provide a description to State Police who responded to the hospital.
NJSP worked with Manchester Police to identify the suspect's vehicle and subsequently the suspect himself as 22-year old William Sabo of Berkeley Township.
On January 14, State Police Detectives from Troop D along with a State Police K9 Unit, TEAMS Unit, Berkeley Police and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office executed a search warrant at Sabo's home and placed him under arrest.
Inside and the home, investigators found and seized a .40 caliber handgun, a .32 caliber revolver, 2 high-capacity magazines, 2.5 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Outside the home, police spotted a grey Kia Forte.
Sabo has been charged with attempted homicide, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon during a CDS offense, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, Sabo was brought to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.
