Unable to Overcome COVID-19 Closure, Tilton Fitness Shutting Down
Saying they could not overcome being closed due to COVID-19, the chain of Tilton Fitness centers has announced they are closing their doors for good.
According to posts on their Facebook pages, their last day in business will be July 1st.
Their post reads in part,
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Tilton Fitness Powered by Hackensack Meridian Health will be permanently closing its doors on July 1, 2020. Unfortunately, like other fitness centers across the country, our facilities have been hit hard by the mandatory closures due to the coronavirus pandemic and we were forced to make this difficult decision.
Tilton Fitness, with locations in Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Manahawkin, West Creek, Brick, Jackson, and Hazlet, served nearly 20,000 members.
The company is addressing membership questions this way: "Please understand that it will take some time for us to respond to all inquiries and that many of your inquiries will be handled by the attorneys assigned to the dissolution."
Gov. Murphy closed all gyms, among many other businesses, over three months ago as COVID-19 started to sweep across New Jersey. Just today, Murphy announced gyms could reopen starting July 2nd by appointment only.
