One of the biggest grocery retailers in the Garden State, ShopRite, announced the closure of 62 pharmacies located in several states, including Connecticut and Maryland.

23 of the pharmacies which will close for good are located in New Jersey, according to a report from The closures will take place in the next month and the company will move existing prescriptions to CVS Pharmacy automatically.

The COVID-19 vaccination distribution will continue after the closures at 39 New Jersey ShopRites with pharmacy locations. 147 pharmacies at various ShopRite locations with will continue to operate, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer.

The list of the 62 underperforming pharmacies, including 23 in New Jersey, has not yet been released.

Speaking of COVID-19 vaccines, retailers are now offering cash incentive for workers to receive the vaccine when available. According to CNN, Aldi, Trader Joe and Dollar General are just a few of the retailers willing to pay cost related expenses for employees to receive the vaccine. Aldi will even pay workers up to 4 hours. Dollar General, Trader Joe and Instacart will also offer financial incentives for employees to get vaccinated.

New Jersey will also have six mega sites for purposes of distributing the vaccine including Rowan College of South Jersey and the Atlantic city Convention center. Registration is required and the only groups that can register for the vaccine now are those over 65, EMS workers, healthcare workers, smokers and if you have a chronic health condition.
