A man died in a fire that blazed thru a Monmouth County home early on Tuesday morning.

A 911 call was made from the house at 42 Raven Road in Colts Neck, according to Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden reporting a fire inside a bedroom in the two story house.

The call was made by 75-year old Rosemary Apisa around 2:22 am who told dispatchers that her home was on fire.

First responders tried to gain access to the burning home when they arrived on the scene but were unsuccessful due to the fire spreading.

Monmouth Prosecutor's Office spokesman Chris Swendeman said the fire claimed the life of 76-year old Joseph Apisa, who was trapped inside his first floor bedroom and was later found deceased.

Rosemary Apisa was taken to Jersey Shore Medical University for smoke inhalation and released.

Monmouth County Prosecutors said that the two-story home was completely destroyed by the fire.

Aerial video aired by News 12 New Jersey showed an in-ground swimming pool in the backyard.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time but the fire has been deemed not to be suspicious.
