At This Point, I Can’t Help But Laugh At The ShopRite & Dunkin’ Feud In Wall Township, New Jersey
Let's rewind a few days. It was Sunday evening and the last thing I was thinking about was having to come up with material for this week's shows. Like many of you, Sunday is a day I mentally click the restart button before another busy working week. So, I was minding my own business, I got done with a nice boardwalk run, and as I was driving home to a plate of homecooked ravioli I saw something that made me laugh out loud. The back of the "old" Dunkin' on Rt. 35 is literally in the front door of the brand new ShopRite. Picky, maybe? Hilarious, absolutely! The ShopRite/ Dunkin' discussion feels like it has been going on forever and at this point, you have to have a sense of humor about the entire situation.

I am laughing and pondering about two things. First, the people in charge of ShopRite must be over the top pissed off! They just built a beautiful state-of-the-art shopping center and the only thing in their way is an old Dunkin' that still has the ugly green roof from the long-gone Foodtown. Do you know how annoying it must have been having to build around the Dunkin'? "WOW! HEY LOOK! Check out the brand new ShopRite! Oh, wait... I can't see it because of the Dunkin' smack dab in the middle of the parking lot!" You can't make this stuff up...
In addition, I think it's hilarious how laissez-faire Dunkin' is about the entire situation. It seems like they could care less about making ShopRite wait. It's real simple, the old Dunkin' will get torn down when the new Dunkin' down the street is ready to serve customers. I can picture the owner of Dunkin' acting like the Godfather and saying, "It's not personal, it's strictly business." The new Dunkin' is simply not ready yet, there's really nothing you can do about it besides laugh. I might be totally overreacting when I say this but I feel like you can cut the ShopRite/ Dunkin' tension with a knife!
I had to pull over and snag a few pictures:
Dunkin' & ShopRite In Wall Township
In conclusion, it's been comical watching this chess match. The Wall Township ShopRite and Dunkin' discussion has been one for the books. It's been a year of confusion for locals but by this time next year expect this topic to be a thing of the past. It's real simple, the new ShopRite will get ready to open when the new Dunkin' on Rt. 35 is complete. I recently drove by the new Dunkin' location and it looks like things are really coming together. We can only hope the high school drama between multimillion-dollar companies comes to an end soon.
Okay... it's time for me to take a deep breath, relax, and eat a donut. Thank you for reading, YOU ARE THE BEST! - Jimmy G
