I have seen it way too many times, and now I'm mad. Really mad. This is an open letter to the idiots who drive 50mph down the side streets of the Jersey Shore.

I was playing with my four and a half year old grandson on my very quiet side street in Point Pleasant Boro this weekend. The weather was beautiful and he wanted to bike ride and all the other things kids love to do on a beautiful Jersey Shore day.

And not once, not twice, but three times over the course of the afternoon, cars sped down my 25 mph road in excess of 40mph, and it has to stop. Here's my open letter to these careless, wreckless drivers.

Dear Dangerous Driver,

I am sick of making excuses in my head for you. I try to justify your carelessness by saying to myself that you just don't realize how fast you are going, or that there's some kind of family emergency, or you don't realize there are little kids in the neighborhood.

But the fact of the matter is there is only one reason you're speeding down a side street. Selfishness. You think your day, your schedule and your life are just more important than anyone else's.

Or maybe that call you're on, or that text to your buddy is the only thing that matters at that moment. But the fact of the matter is your self importance is putting people's lives at risk. And usually those lives are of little kids just trying to enjoy a day.

You're driving a vehicle that weighs thousands of pounds, an if you can't control it, and that includes knowing how fast your going, than you should turn your license in and call an Uber. it's driving 101.

But it's not that. It's just that you're not considering other people, their families, and the safety of their children into your driving to do list. That's reckless, careless and selfish, and you need to stop doing it now, before you hurt or kill someone.

Enough tragic accidents occur when everyone is following the rules. Let's eliminate the one's we can do something about. You know what the signs say. "Drive like your kids live here". And if you don't have kids in your life, just slow the hell down for the benefit of people who do.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
