Despite all the yawning, eye rubbing and complaining, it turns out that New Jersey is not really that tired after all.

If you, like I, beg to differ with that, we are certainly not alone in that belief here in the Garden State, but according to a published study, New Jersey is in the middle of the pack when it comes to the most tired states.

The study was published at Zippia, and the Garden State ranking will definitely surprise you. New Jersey is apparently only the 25th most exhausted state in the nation. If you're wondering how that can be, frankly so am I. It literally makes me more tired just thinking about it.

So, here's how the data was compiled. Zippia checked amount of sleep and sleep quality  and included things like work hours, people with a 60 minutes or more commute each day, and how many people are getting 7 or more hours of sleep a night.

Do you remember the last time you slept 7 or more hours in consecutive nights? Me either. And when was the last time you got quality sleep? And yet there are 24 states more exhausted than we are? I can't help but doubt that.

Here in New Jersey we've been blaming bad driving, cranky co-workers and impatient bosses on lack of sleep for years. If this data is true, we have to rethink everything. Exhaustion is a great and convenient excuse for a lot of things.

We may have to start to look elsewhere. We may have to be better drivers with nicer co-workers and a more patient boss. But, that just sounds exhausting, doesn't it?

For the record, the most exhausted state in the nation is West Virginia. In a weird way, I'm insulted and feel a little overlooked. We're very exhausted in New Jersey. We should have won this one.
