It's been a tough couple months for the Toms River Police community following the sudden loss of K-9 Gunnar in September, the department announced that K-9 Boris has passed away at the age of 15.

K9 Boris has been with the Toms River Police Department since 2008 when he attended the TRPD K9 Academy and entered into service with his handler at the time, Officer Steve Eubanks that February.

During his career that concluded in 2016, Toms River Police said that K9 Boris was responsible for the seizure and removal of countless amounts of illegal narcotics and is credited with the successful apprehension of numerous criminal suspects.

“In retirement Boris loved hanging out with my family and laughing at me when I went to work!," Sergeant Eubanks said.

"He was truly loved back. Our sincere condolences are with Boris’s handler Sergeant Eubanks and his family," Toms River Police said in a statement.

May K-9 Boris rest in peace and serve the K-9 Unit in Heaven.
