Honoring Jersey Shore Firefighters: Laurelton Fire Company in Brick, New Jersey 🔥
I continue my series honoring Jersey Shore Firefighters and this time I’m in Ocean County at the Laurelton Fire Company Number 1 Station 23 in Brick Township.
The station is located on Route 88 and Olden Street in Brick Township, New Jersey. I was recently in Brick and took a drive by to get some photos (below) to share with you.
Let’s take a look at some of the history of the Laurelton Fire Company Number 1 Station 23. This company is 91 years old. The company was founded in 1930. This founding happened after local residents had to battle a forest fire that threatened area homes. An initial meeting to form the new fire company was held May 14, 1930.
Later that year, 1930, in July.....the Company's first piece of apparatus was purchased from the Mt. Holly Fire Company for $450.00....yes that was $450.00! I highly doubt that you could purchase much, when it comes to firefighting equipment, for under $500.00.
At first it was a temporary fire house, but after two year's, the Laurelton Fire Company was deeded property at the site of the present Route 88 Fire House.
The brave men and women of the Laurelton Fire Company are 100% volunteers. Amazing how these folks serve the community and put their lives on the line and it's “volunteer” work! THANK YOU 👍🏻
