Christopher Wilson, 20, was indicted April 18 by an Ocean County grand jury on a second-degree charge of attempted sexual assault, and two third-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

Investigator Stephanie Bayha of the Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit, and Little Egg Harbor Detective Joel Mahr, contend that Wilson, in December 2016, offered the girl a gaming system in exchange for sex. He was apprehended January 19.

Wilson, a Megan's Law registrant for a 2009 incident that occurred when he was a minor, is in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.

Under New Jersey's bail reform laws that took effect January 1, he had been released to await court proceedings. Local and county authorities obtained permission to issue Megan's Law notices door-to-door.

Charges are allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
