Brick Township alcohol vendors learn legalities from police, DART

Thinking about slipping a liquor store clerk some fake ID because you're not of legal age (21) in New Jersey? If you're in Brick Township, think twice.

Bartenders, liquor store workers and others whose livelihoods touch on vending alcohol are up to speed on the state's rules and regs, courtesy of a workshop organized by township police ahd the DART Coalition.

Attendees learned what is expected of them to comply with guidelines established by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). They also discovered, through members of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC), how to spot counterfeit driver's licenses and related proof-of-age identification.

Brick Township police say that they'll continue their regimen of periodic ABC inspections at bars and liquor stores.

The DART Coalition, a branch of the RWJ Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention, presented the workshop under the leadership of Coalition Coordinator Michele Budo.
