Police in Brick Township have arrested a man allegedly responsible for a hit-and-run accident on the Garden State Parkway Monday night which preceded his fleet on foot.

Timothy Gandy, 33, drove towards Lanes Mill School after the crash while the victim called the police.

Officers found Gandy's silver Nissan Sentra abandoned and sitting in the school parking lot with heavy front end damage.

They found him walking along Lanes Mill Road.

When police approached Gandy and asked about what happened with the crash on the parkway and any injuries he suffered, his answer was to run north on Lanes Mill Road.

The responding officer grabbed his arms as he started to run, but Gandy took his jacket off and continued to run.

Gandy ran into the Greenwood Loop apartment complex where police pursued Gandy on foot and found him hiding in the wooded area along Sawmill Creek.

He was placed under arrest and charged with Obstructing the Administration of Law, Possession of Heroin, Manufacturing/Distributing Heroin, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Receiving Stolen Property.

These charges were placed on a warrant and Gandy was brought to the Ocean County Jail.
