Bloods sentenced for Burlington County armed robbery, police chase

Two Bloods associates are sentenced, and another has a scheduled May 17 trial date, all related to an armed robbery in Mount Holly two years ago this week.

Kavon Carter, 19, of Lumberton, was ordered to an eight-year prison term Wednesday, for his guilty plea to drug and weapons charges. Tayron Brown, 20, of Edgewater Park, was sentenced to seven years for robbery and weapons possession.

The trial of Tifani Young, 22, of Pemberton, is scheduled to begin May 17. Young faces three counts of witness tampering, and one each of robbery and conspiracy.

All three belong to the Gotti Boy Movement (GBM), associated with the Bloods, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Mount Holly Police Chief Thomas Mastrangelo.

Carter and Brown admitted confronting a gas station employee who was walking home from work on May 7, 2015, pointing a gun, and demanding keys to the service station safe.

Told that he had none, they walked with him to his house, tried to enter, and were chased by relatives, authorities said. The weapon was recovered during their arrest.

Investigators allege that Young was positioned as the getaway driver, if they pulled off the robbery, and later threatened the victim for giving a statement to detectives.

A fourth GBM member, Adam Clark, 23, of Pemberton, also was sentenced Wednesday for a separate incident also involving Young.

Clark was given five years for his guilty plea to eluding in connection with a police chase following a shooting in Pemberton's Sunbury Village in October 2015.

Police said that during the lengthy chase, two weapons were tossed from the car. Authorities said that another defendant in the case, a 17-year-old man, was shot to death in a Cherry Hill motel in Feburary 2016.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
