Winning pitcher Shane Garrett went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI and the Spartans (5-0, 5-0) turned back the Hornets (0-5, 0-5) to remain undefeated.

Senior Jack Zabarsky went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBI, junior George Krenkel was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and freshman Ben Robinson finished 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two runs and two RBI for Ocean.

Joe Barbarino (RBI) and Alex Price each went 2-for-3, while Sean Brescia, James Vallillo and Elliot Chun each went 2-for-4 with a run scored, with Vallillo and Chun each driving in a run as well.

No. 4 Central 7, Brick 3

Junior Dom Masino led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run and finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI as the Golden Eagles (4-3, 3-2) rode a fast start to a win over the Green Dragons (1-5, 0-5), snapping a three-game skid.

Seniors Cam Leiter and Shane Sajewicz each went 2-for-3 as well, with Leiter contributing a double, a run and an RBI and Sajewicz scoring two runs.

Junior Chase Pierce also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and junior Elijah Kiernan pitched in a pair of RBI while going 1-for-1.

Brick senior Matt Kunzman made some family history by making the start on the mound on the field named for his late grandfather and Central coaching legend, Al Kunzman.

Southern 8, Toms River East 0

Senior Mike Nascimento (98 pitches) pitched an eight-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and senior Stephen Stafford led a 14-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI as the Rams (3-2, 3-2) rolled to a win over the Raiders (2-3, 2-3).

Ray Mulhern, Curtis Olender and Niko Diamantopoulos each went 2-for-3 with an RBI, with Diamantopoulos also doubling. Kyle Serino also went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for Southern.

Junior Ryan Ushock went 2-for-4 and worked three innings on the mound in taking the loss.

Toms River South 11, Brick Memorial 1 (6 Innings)

Senior Jake Wilber pitched a six-inning complete game with six hits allowed, one walk and seven strikeouts to lead the Indians (4-2, 3-2) to a win over the Mustangs (4-3, 2-3) -- the fourth straight win for Toms River South after a 0-2 start.

Junior Mike Erli went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI and senior Aidan Folsom was 2-for-4 with three RBI to key the Toms River South attack. Juniors Chris Clark (two RBI) and Justin Diaz each went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and senior Gavin Migliori was 1-for-4 with a double and two runs in the win.

Junior Brady Leach highlighted Brick Memorial's evening by going 2-for-3 with a double.

 

Class B North

Wall 7, No. 10 Manasquan 3

Junior Gabe Cavazzoni hit a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Crimson Knights (3-2, 3-2) offense came alive in time to beat the Warriors (4-2, 3-2), earning them a regular-season split with their rivals.

Senior Jerry Winchester went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while Cavazzoni finished 2-for-4 with the RBI and sophomore Jake Howlett was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Senior Ryan O'Neill went 1-for-3 with two RBI and senior Jackson Coan was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

Senior Matt Johnson went the distance on 94 pitches, allowing three unearned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Senior James Cosgrove took the loss for Manasquan while Ryan Deegan, Jack O'Shea and Cole Kozlowski each went 1-for-3 with a run scored for Wall.

 

Class B Central

Henry Hudson 5, Keansburg 1

Sophomore Brandon Hendrickson struck out 13 in a 114-pitch complete-game effort and the Admirals (2-3, 2-2) topped the Titans (1-3, 1-3). Hendrickson allowed a run on four hits and four walks while also going 1-for-3 at the plate, with a run and an RBI.

Mater Dei Prep 4, Keyport 1

Sophomore Gavin Sansone pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and the Seraphs (2-3, 2-2) shut down the Red Raiders (2-2, 2-2). Senior Gerard Novello went 2-for-4 with an RBI and senior Brian Burnett was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Mater Dei.

Keyport sophomore Carter Williams allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine in five innings.

Point Beach 15, Asbury Park 0 (5 Innings)

Junior Kyle Kolans and Liam Dolan combined on a no-hitter in a Garnet Gulls (4-2, 3-1) win over the Blue Bishops (0-4, 0-4). Kolans struck out six and walked three in four innings of work while Dolan fired a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts.

Colin Matuschat went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, Colin Reinhard was 1-for-1 with a double and three RBI and Andrew Banick was 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Nate Clayton also went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI for Point Beach.

 

Class B South

Lacey 12, Lakewood 0 (Game 1)

Lacey 10, Lakewood 0 (Game 2)

Senior Mike TOdaro went 4-for-5 with a double across the two games and the Lions took care of the Piners in a double-header sweep.

Junior Jiovani Genao pitched the double-header and went 2-for-2 at the plate.

 

Point Boro 5, Manchester 3

Sophomore starter Bryson Kirby did not stick around long enough to earn a win on the mound, but he still delivered one for his team with a go-ahead two-run double in a four-run seventh that lifted the Panthers over the Hawks.

Kirby chimed in with the first of back-to-back two-run doubles, with senior Nick Scelfo following him with a two-RBI double to extend the Point Boro lead to 5-2.

Senior Giacomo Calamita capped a perfect day at the plate with the game-winning, walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Patriots (6-1) a come-from-behind win over the Millers (6-1) -- ranked No. 6 in the state, according to NJ Advance Media.

Calamita finished the day 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Freehold Township, which won its sixth straight on Wednesday. Junior Ryan Kopf was 2-for-2 with a double and a run, while classmate Lucas Dixon was 1-for-3 with an RBI double.

Senior Sean Keegan pitched scoreless frames in the fifth and sixth innings and senior Ryan Keegan pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up the win. Patriots pitching overcame six errors, all throwing.

 

No. 5 Middletown South 2, Cranford 1

Sophomore Louis D'Alessio crushed his first career-home run in the third and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on an RBI double by junior Matt Sliva as the Eagles outlasted the Cougars for a win over the No. 19 team in the state.

Junior Ben Schild struck out nine of the first 10 batters he faced and the lone two hits he allowed were bunt singles, while the walk came against junior Georgia Tech commit Ryan Jaros. Schild struck out Jaros in his first at-bat.
