“50 Golden Acts of Good” is the year-long campaign launched in January by our partners from the Causeway Family of Dealerships in celebration of their 50th anniversary.

Each month through November the Manahawkin-based auto group is awarding a $10,000 grant to an Ocean County non-profit, an extraordinary charitable endeavor that will clearly make a positive impact in the community.

July’s $10,000 grant recipient is Your Grandmother’s Cupboard which was established by those who recognize the needs of the homeless and working poor in our communities.

The organization’s roots go back to 2005 when Clark and Jean Paradise would bring blankets, clothing and more to those living in homeless camps around Lakewood.  With the help of others they began bringing personal care items and would later learn there were many others living in motels and shelters who were also in need.  With a group of dedicated volunteers Your Grandmother’s Cupboard was born.

Through donations they bring clothing, shoes, blankets and personal care items to those in need, many of whom have no access to transportation to visit pantries and thrift shops.  With two-part time employees and nearly 40 volunteers they serve some 4,000 children and adults each month and the need for their services is growing at a rapid rate.  Operating out of an office in Toms River they are best known by word of mouth and through churches, clubs and social services.

They can also use YOUR help through a monetary donation, a donation of clothing and other supplies and by donating your time to help others.  Simply call (732) 240-0441 or visit ygcnj.org.

Your Grandmother’s Cupboard joins previous $10,000 grant recipients Ocean’s Harbor House, CONTACT, Ocean Partnership for Children, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County, Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey and Meals on Wheels of Ocean County with the next announcement coming in August.

This year-long philanthropic endeavor will culminate in December with the awarding of a new Ford Transit Connect Van.

Founded by David C. Wintrode in 1969 the Causeway Family of Dealerships has been a fixture on Route 72 in Manahawkin and so has been their commitment to the community.  The “Golden Acts of Good” is just the latest example.
