An employee at Garden State Car Wash on Route 35 in Middletown has been hospitalized after being pinned between two cars in a Sunday afternoon accident.

Middletown Police say a vehicle was leaving a wash bay at the car wash and was heading toward the parking lot to be dried when a second vehicle crashed into the first vehicle pinning a car was employee in between the cars around 3:55 pm.

The vehicle was reportedly moving at a slower speed, police said, but it was moving quick enough to seriously injure the woman stuck between the cars.

She was treated on scene by MONOC, Lincroft First Aid and Middletown Police before being flown by New Jersey State Police to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
