What caused a massive sinkhole to open up under investigation in Wall
A massive sinkhole that opened up on Route 35 in Wall on Tuesday nearly brought a car along with it.

Wall Police said they respond around 12:26 pm to 1901 State Highway 35 where a sinkhole had developed 30-feet behind the commercial building.
It's estimated that the sinkhole was about 6 feet deep and 15 feet wide and nearly swallowed up a car as the front tires were partially in there already when police arrived.
The car was removed without any issue, the building was temporarily evacuated as a precaution, there was no structural damage to the building and no injuries are being reported.
Wall Police said what caused the sinkhole to open up remains under investigation.
A number of first responders and agencies responded to the sinkhole along with Wall Police from the West Belmar Fire Department to South Wall Fire Department, New Jersey Natural Gas, Wall Township Department of Public Works, Wall Township Fire Bureau, Wall Township Building Department, Wall Township Water Department, South Monmouth Regional Sewage Authority, Wall Township Health Department and the Wall Township OEM.
