There are places that just scream summer to us here at the Jersey Shore. I visited one yesterday to see what it looked like on the coldest day of the winter.

So, as I was driving through Point Pleasant Beach yesterday, I decided to suck it up and go up on Jenkinson's Boardwalk. Then I changed my mind. Then I changed it back. I did that for about ten minutes.

I finally made the decision to take one for the team add head onto the boardwalk on the last day of the year you'd want to be on it. I pulled my shoulders in, lowered my head, clenched my teeth and got out of the car.

I got on the boardwalk and checked the temperature. It was 12 degrees with a wind chill of -3. It felt like the wind was coming at me from every direction, and I'm pretty sure it was. I tried to think of the heat on those summer mornings when we did the show live from the boardwalk. It didn't help.

And then I looked up to see a lonely, empty boardwalk and I got that sad winter feeling that only a Jersey Shore resident can understand. And then I took a few pictures of one of the Jersey Shore's hottest summer spots on one of the coldest days of the winter.

I'm not sure you'll enjoy these pictures, but I hope you keep them in mind the next time you think about complaining about the heat on a summer 2019 day, however far away that seems right now.
