Two vicious pit-bulls attacked another dog and then ran off

Officers responded to the scene and learned that a woman was walking her leashed dog in the area when two dogs emerged from between two mobile homes and attacked her dog.

The woman told police that she yelled for help and that's when two area residents tried to separate the dogs by pulling them apart and even striking the dogs with a pipe.

The two pit bulls, one gray in color and the other white with brown markings, then ran from the area.

The victim's dog died from its injuries while the woman was transporting the dog to an emergency veterinarian.

Both residents who tried to separate the dogs suffered multiple lacerations to the arms and knee pain as a result of the struggle.

Officers remained in the area for several hours and checked the residences of any possible dogs matching the description of the two pit bulls within Barnegat Township.

Due to the location of the incident, Stafford Township Police was also advised.

Both dogs are still on the loose.
