Toms River Police arrested a bank robber in record time at the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 9 Thursday by placing the suspect in handcuffs in seven minutes.

Officers responded to the bank at 9:51 am for a hold up alarm call after it was reported that the suspect had entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.

The suspect then left the bank across the parking lot on foot after being given an undisclosed amount of money by the teller.

No weapon was shown by the suspect.

A detailed description of the suspect was broadcast by the Toms River Police Department Communications Division to responding officers.

Officer Sean Smith responded to the area and spotted a man matching the broadcast description exiting a wooded area on Route 9 just south of the bank location.

At 9:58 AM the suspect, identified as Daniel Brown, 30 of Toms River, was detained and found to be in possession of the money stolen from the bank.

Brown was then placed under arrest by Officer Smith.

The investigation was continued by the Toms River Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau, Ocean County Sherriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Brown was charged with Robbery and Theft by Toms River Police Detective Jon Turner and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
