A Toms River who is also a member of the Decavalcante crime family, based in Elizabeth, has admitted to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in Trenton Federal Court.

U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced the guilty plea on Thursday of Jason Vella, 39, who now faces 20-years in prison along with paying a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on February 26, 2021.

Vella and fellow crime family member Mario Galli III were both arrested in September of 2019 when the Ocean County Prosecutors Office executed search warrants at their homes and found nearly 500 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia as well as digital scales, glassine envelopes, a money counter, baking soda, grinders and $2,295 in cash.

They also found pieces of jewelry in Vella's residence.

The government for the current Jason Vella case is represented by Senior Litigation Counsel V. Grady O=Malley of the U.S. Attorney=s Office’s Organized Crime/Gangs Unit in Newark.
