The need to pull out of a parking lot to try and get ahead of another car on the road looks to have been what caused a two-car collision in Brick on Sunday night that sent four people to the hospital.

Brick Police responded to the area outside of St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Herbertsville Road around 7:50 pm for a report of a serious accident.

Their preliminary investigation found that Lisa DeFeo-Ester, 38, Somerset County pulled out of the parking lot in a 2017 Red Buick Envision and pulled in front of a 2018 Black Toyota Camry who had the right of way on the road.

DeFeo-Ester as well as the driver of the other vehicle, Kasandra Diaz-Torres, 22, Howell along with her passengers Michael Roman, 25, Jackson and Milton Perez, 23, Freehold were then transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital by Brick Police EMS, Point Boro First Aid Squad and Paramedics from Hackensack Meridian Hospital.

DeFeo-Ester suffered an injury to her extremity as did Diaz-Torres while Roman suffered an extremity injury in addition to a laceration while Perez suffered a head and internal injury.

This accident is under investigation by Patrolman David Thergesen #249.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to contact Patrolman Thergesen at (732) 451-2037.
