If part of your Halloween plans are to be where the hauntings are happening, then you should get ready to head to Cape May.

The most haunted hotel in New Jersey, according to Love Exploring, is an estate in Cape May built in 1863 named the Southern Estate. And some of the stories about it are pretty bone-chilling.

Here are some examples of some stories.

The people who work in the kitchen say they are often 'intently watched' while preparing meals, according to Haunted Places To Go.

There are many stories that Ester Mercur, the last of the relatives of the original owners still 'lives' there, even though she passed away in 1946.

One of the rooms in the mansion has caused visitors to have very 'heavy and uncomfortable feelings'.

It's a place that is featured on many local ghost hunting tours, and has even been visited by the SyFy Channel's Ghost Hunters. The Southern Mansion is located at 720 Washington St. in Cape May.
