I recently made a top 25 list that highlighted New Jersey's best concert venues. A few Jersey Shore locations made the list including The Stone Pony and PNC Bank Arts Center. It's really awesome knowing we have some of the best music venues in our own backyard. However, the list might be inaccurate.  After recently seeing a show at the House of Independents in Asbury Park, I might have to make an edit and update the top 25. The House of Independents can easily be categorized as one of the best New Jersey concert venues. Here's why...

THE LOCATION: Before seeing Recess Radio, my friends and I were spending time in downtown Asbury Park. It was a summer Sunday night and it was raining, aka the perfect time to have a locals day in Asbury Park. There was no traffic and the crowd was very low-key. With that, the venue is located on Cookman Ave, so we were able to have a pre-game at a few of our favorite local spots, including Johnny Mac's, Bond Street Bar, and Asbury Ale House. Everything is within walking distance and it makes the start of the night easier as you prepare to see a show at the House of Independents.

THE VENUE ITSELF: The House of Independents is not the biggest venue in the world but that's what makes it fun. You get to see one of your favorite bands or artist in an intimate setting. The venue is not meant for you to see a HUGE show, but it's a great place to find new music and see a group that could potentially make it big one day. The ticket system is easy, the bar service is great, and the security is top-notch. In addition, the sound system was tremendous. The venue was rocking and I already can't wait to see another show there in the future.

House of Independents brings Asbury Park’s ever-growing community of creative thinkers a venue that reflects their originality and versatility. The House supports a wide spectrum of uses, with convertible attributes such as its retractable seating system and movable stages. The stadium-style seats can be implemented for theatre productions, movie premieres, conferences and more, or they can be hidden away to open floor space for events such as weddings, concerts, and fundraisers.
