We have a lot of roads in our Garden State. A lot of bad roads. Really, really bad roads  So when a New Jersey road is celebrated as a beautiful one, our ears perk up, and we want to know more. Now it's time for us to learn the road that provides a dream drive for us here in the Garden State. A dream drive/ This should be good.

The first piece of breaking news here is that we actually have a road in the Garden state that would rise to the "Dream Drive" status, but Love Exploring has managed to find one. They had to travel a bit away from the Jersey Shore to find it.

So where is the road in New Jersey that someone would associate with the word dream? Well, the Turnpike, The Parkway, Route 9, Route 18 and Route 37 can be eliminated pretty quickly.

And so can Route 70, Route 35, Brick Blvd., Route 34 and Route 9. So where is this little slice of heaven they are talking about?

It turns out we're going to have to take a trip near the Delaware Water Gap to find this mystery road. and according to Love Exploring, it is Old Mine Rd. It runs from Hardwick Township to Kingston, NY.

Old Mine Rd. is not only beautiful, it's historic. According to New Jersey Leisure Guide, it's considered to be one of America's oldest roads. It's even in the National Register of Historic Places?

Never heard of it? Me either, but you can read all about it here. Plan to make a day trip if you want to soak in all the beautiful sites Old Mine Rd. has to offer, while riding on a road that has a place in American history.

So, yes, there is a dreamy road in New Jersey. You'll just have to fight Jersey Shore traffic and get out of Monmouth & Ocean Counties to get there. Just keep going north and west until you hit Warren County!
