I know we all know someone who has gotten their first, and maybe even the second, COVID vaccines. I just joined the first shot club yesterday and wanted to share my experience with you. It all starts with our great local nurses, who keep amazing us through this pandemic.

I got my first of two COVID vaccines (Pfizer) at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and before I do another thing, I want to tell you just how great the nurses are there. They are amazingly professional, friendly and upbeat. May, who gave me my shot, was an absolute pleasure and made me laugh the whole way through.

I’m not sure how the nurses stay so upbeat after all they’ve been through. But I guess that’s what heroes do.

The process is a really easy one. Just get on the Hackensack Meridian Health website for FAQ and to sign up. When you get your appointment, you're going to find the process immediately streamlined.

So I wanted to give you a peek into the process once you get the call for your appointment. I arrived, walked into the COVID Vaccination Clinic set up at JSUMC, checked in, got the vaccine and then waited the 15 minutes to make sure I didn’t have an allergic reaction and then I was done.

Counting the 15 minute wait, my whole process took no more than 25 minutes. It was quick, efficient and painless (and yes, that includes the shot).
How about side effects?

For me, The side effects have been pretty non-existent so far. May did great work, because I didn't even feel the shot, and 1 day later, I don't really have side effects. My arm never really hurt afterward, either.

I absolutely encourage everyone to get this vaccine and together we can knock down this virus that has turned our world upside down. And thanks to my friends at Hackensack Meridian Health for being there for us during this crazy time.
