The Marine Mammal Stranding Center does some amazing things for our area. They rely on donations to continue doing their work, rescuing and rehabbing animals like seals, whales, and turtles (yes, I know turtles aren't mammals).

With the pandemic putting a halt to almost all of their fundraisers this year, it is more important than ever to help them out.

If you are a nature lover, or there's one in your family, these Christmas tree ornaments are a perfect way to celebrate the holidays and support a great local organization!

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center Museum and Gift Shop in Brigantine is open to the public, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm. They understand that those hours are kind of limited, so if you cannot make it during those times but still want to get some ornaments, you can set up a shopping appointment by calling them at 609-266-0539. They can even ship ornaments to you if you make a phone order!

The MMSC responded to help a rare right whale that was entangled in the waters off Sea Bright. They helped to bury a humpback whale that washed up in Brigantine. In one of my favorite videos, they released three baby seals back into the wild after they had been rescued and rehabbed. I always want to be there when they do one of their releases, but my schedule never seems to line up. Living here at the Jersey Shore, we know how important our waters and our wildlife are, so it's important to help them out so they can keep doing what they need to do!
