Neptune City shoplifting suspect nabbed in Asbury Park
A Neptune City shoplifting suspect's flight from the law ends in Asbury Park. And when she was cuffed, she had some crack cocaine on her, according to police in Monmouth's Ocean Township.
Police said that they tied Christine Howland, 44, to a longstanding theft probe. Detective Michael Legg and Detective Sergeant Greg Tongring caught up with her in Asbury on June 20, apprehending her without incident. That's when they allegedly found the crack and drug-related items.
Howland was charged with shoplifting, narcotics offenses and defiant trespass, and placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold to await a court appearance.
Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
