Scenic Workout! Hike the Beautiful Boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ

If you are looking for a fun workout, how about a hike on one of our many beautiful boardwalks here in New Jersey. This time around we decided to hike the beautiful Ocean City boardwalk in Cape May County.

The Ocean City boardwalk is 2.5 miles long. It is perfect for bikers, joggers and walkers. Lots of great sites along the route and you can even stop...shop and get a cold drink. Perfect this time of year because everything is now open for summer. Now that we no longer need masks outdoors, you are free to enjoy the fresh salt air. If you do decide to venture into a shop, just have your mask in your pocket and use for now, until the indoor ban is lifted

Hiking the boardwalk does not create any great challenges, it's flat and hard ground....but it does offer great scenery and NO BUGS! It is bug season and I prefer to hit the spots during summer, where I can walk in piece without being eaten alive and avoided the dreaded ticks and chiggers. I know for true hiking purists this type of “urban” hike might not be your cup of tea, but in the end we got in about 5 miles, took some great pics and didn't have a bite on us, I take that as a win.

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns.
