Recreational Marijuana becoming legal in New Jersey tops stories of the week
So, what happened this week in New Jersey?
There was a lot that did take place but nothing that took the headlines more than heading into and on Thursday itself when recreational Marijuana officially became legal in New Jersey to the delight of marijuana advocates and the concern of those worried about what legalizing this drug will do in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
There was even a Stockton University poll that came out this week surveying some people -- those who filled out the poll, anyway, which was a total of 640 people in a state of 9-million people -- but most of the respondents of the Stockton poll said that they were in fact in favor of marijuana sales in New Jersey, but 36-percent said they disapproved of the legislation.
Of those numbers, most in the survey from Ocean County here in Central Jersey were opposed but many in South Jersey were in favor of legal weed.
There are a lot of takes on this and a lot that were not considered naively or otherwise.
All this was happening in the same week, ironically, that the American Lung Association released their 2022 "State of the Air" report which took a deep dive into all 21 New Jersey Counties.
At the local, county-level there were six New Jersey counties including Ocean that received an F for ground-level ozone while Monmouth County got an A in that category.
So, now what happens to the air quality in New Jersey?
Here are the News stories that made headlines in the Garden State this week.
