There is a local school delay today because of the weather, please click here for stormwatch. Ocean County, LBI schools are on a two-hour delay because of all the rain and flooding on the island. Please be safe today.

This rain started this past weekend with the remnants of Hurricane Ian. I was hoping that weekend would clear out a little bit, but WOW, Sunday was incredibly wet and windy.

From Meteorologist Dan Zarrow:

An additional 1 to 3 feet of water will cause minor to moderate flooding of tidal waterways for several high tide cycles in a row: Monday and possibly Tuesday too. That's enough to flood out vulnerable roadways and low-lying areas, and possibly cause some property damage. This degree of water rise and flooding goes just beyond "the usual spots". The latest tidal models show Monday evening's high tide to be the highest of the storm.

—High Risk of Rip Currents  Stay out of the ocean.

—Coastal Flood Watch posted for coastal counties for Monday, as Moderate tidal flooding becomes likely.

When will the rain stop in Ocean County?

The rain will stop and the sun will come out, according to Dan Zarrow on Thursday! Bring on the sun. Can you imagine this rain and wind for the next few days? I'm hoping it will not continue to rain all day and all night. All the beautiful fall leaves are falling and blowing way too early. They're all over the ground already.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
