Plane crash at Miller Airpark among biggest news stories of week

It happened quite suddenly in the early part of Sunday evening but the plane crash that occurred at Robert J. Miller Airpark in Berkeley Township drew comparisons to a similar event a few months back in New Jersey.

The crash was blamed on "engine issues" and neither the pilot or flight instructor in the Cessna 172 were injured.

In November of 2021, a 17-year old pilot lost control of the plane leading to a crash at Old Bridge Airport.

It will be about a year or two until we know the full scope of what happened as that's how long it takes for the NTSB report to be completed.

On another and separate note, New Jersey made the switch from routine plastic bags to reusable and sometimes paper bags this week.

From what we've heard, there's been a mix of stories coming in on people forgetting to bring in their reusable bags to some people who still want the plastic bags.

With regards to the pandemic, several New Jersey GOP Senators are requesting that Governor Phil Murphy lift testing and vaccine mandates for both public and private sector workers across the state.

U.S. Congressman Chris Smith, who represents northern Ocean County and parts of Monmouth County, also came out this week and is requesting that service members who were discharged because they were not vaccinated, to be restored to duty.

There were many other stories that grabbed the headlines this week across Ocean County, Monmouth County, the Jersey Shore, and the state as a whole.
