Toms River Woman Charged in Pine Beach Bank Robbery
Following an investigation into a bank robbery at a Pine Beach Santander Bank branch on Friday afternoon, police have arrested Beth Ellen Brown of Toms River.
Brown allegedly entered the Santander Bank on Route 9 shortly after 3 p.m. and handed the teller a note alerting her that she had a gun and demanded cash. The woman was given an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was revealed during the incident and no one was harmed.
Following a collaborate investigation between Det. Anthony Pruchnik of the Pine Beach Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and Toms River Police Department, Brown was located and apprehended at the Pelican Hotel on Route 37 in Toms River.
Brown is charged with 1st degree robbery and is being held in the Ocean County Jail pending a court appearance.
Criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
