Home Runs for Heroes grants help provide financial support to charities that meet the emergency basic needs of veterans and local service men and women whether active or retired and their families.

The program ties each charity partner to an inning and every home run that is hit by the Lakewood BlueClaws at First Energy Park during the charity's designated inning earned a $1,000 donation.

Katherine Durante, the Executive Director of the OceanFirst Foundation said, "The 2017 season was a great success and we're delighted that the BlueClaws hit lots of home runs resulting in a $43,000 donation by OceanFirst Foundation. This brings our nine year total awarded through Home Runs for Heroes to $260,000. We thank the BlueClaws organization and Townsquare Media for giving us the opportunity to work together to bring much needed relief to local military families with special needs."
