A recent study has actually paid a compliment to the Garden State. We are among the top states in America when it comes to innovation.

That's right, when it comes to innovation, only a few states in America rank higher than we do in New Jersey. As a matter of fact, according to the study by WalletHub, we rank a very impressive #12.

And our rank in the 'Human Capital' category was even higher at #11.And when it comes to 'Innovation Environment, we rank 18th. The study looked at 24 key indicators of 'innovation friendliness'.

The study looked at all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and the top three states for innovation were (from third to first) Washington D.C., Washington State and Massachusetts.

The states that were ranked least innovative were (from 49 to 51) West Virginia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Our neighbors in New York ranked 20th, while Pennsylvania came in at #29.

It seems that being ranked #12 is a habit for the Garden State. Even though there isn't necessarily an exact correlation between innovation and intelligence, a recent study reported at Inc lists the Garden State as the 12th most intelligent state.

I guess 12 is our number. I will say, though, that the innovation ranked seemed like a positive to me, while I thought the intelligence ranking was a little low. But I'm from Jersey, so what do I know, right?
