If you love small towns, then you're in luck. New Jersey has two of the most underrated small towns in America, according to one publication.

The Active Times picked the 50 most underrated small towns in the United States, and the Garden State is home to two of them. So if you're doing a staycation, or just looking for a day trip destination, these might be the places for you.

By the way, it would be more like a day trip, since no Monmouth or Ocean County towns made the list, but we'll get to that in just a bit. For now, here are the two New Jersey towns that did make the list.

Clinton...Highlights include the Red Mill Museum Village, including the Hunterdon Historical Museum and the iron bridge built in 1870.

Cape May...the beach, the boardwalk, the shopping in town and all those beautiful Victorian homes and B&B's.

So, let's have the conversation about no representation for Monmouth & Ocean Counties in this article. I get that places like Belmar, Point Pleasant and Asbury Park are not exactly underrated anymore, but what about the other towns?

Towns like Avon By The Sea, Ocean Grove, Bay Head immediately come to mind. And what about Spring Lake, Brielle and Manasquan? Those are some pretty awesome towns that could certainly be considered underrated.

So, what do you think is the most underrated town in Monmouth & Ocean Counties? Let us know and we'll publish your results soon.
