When you go to the grocery store, you of course want to make sure that what you are bringing home is safe for you and your family.

That's why when a store recalls a product, it's usually for good reason and you should adhere to the warnings.

I know a lot is happening in the world right now and the last thing anyone wants to think about is whether their food is contaminated or not, but it's still important to have it at the forefront of your mind.

Fortunately, there are safeguards in place to ensure anyone who purchased a possibly contaminated product is aware of the situation.

We're seeing this unfold right now with a grocery store that's pretty popular in the Garden State.

I know I've shopped here a few times for great deals on snacks, produce, and bread.

I'm sure you've shopped here as well; they are one of the better discount grocers in the state in my opinion.

However, if you've shopped at Aldis in the past couple of weeks you'll want to check your fridge because one of their products is being recalled due to an E. Coli outbreak.

Before we go too far though, Eat This Not That reports that as of now only 20 people across six states have been linked to the same strain of E. Colie.

That may not seem like a huge number, but it's still concerning seeing how some of the contaminated food was being sold in New Jersey.

According to Eat This Not That:

"Cuisine Innovations Unlimited, LLC has announced the voluntary recall of its Earth Grown Vegan Traditional Falafel and Earth Grown Garlic & Herb Falafel products due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli"

The actual outbreaks occurred in six states outside of New Jersey, however, this product was being sold on shelves here in the Garden State.

Eat This Not That reports that the contaminated products would have been shipped to stores after June 24th, 2021 and contain the following lot numbers:

"1472, 1481, 1531, 1532, 1541, 1552, 1561, 1581, 1601, 1611, 1612, 1661, 1682, 1732, 1752, 1762, 1782, 1802, and 1812" ~ Eat This Not That

If you're not sure where to find the lot number, it's generally near the sell-by date on the packaging.

Now, if you don't eat vegan food then this probably doesn't affect you.

However, it's worth noting just in case you have friends or family that do indulge in the vegan side of things.

I'll also give Aldi credit, they immediately pulled the product from shelves to ensure no one else gets sick.

Good move.

Personally, and I don't know if this really helps prevent E. Coli, but I only get falafel from food trucks in the city, it just tastes better.
