Jackson, NJ man passes away in tragic single vehicle crash in Manchester, NJ
Manchester Township Police said that they are continuing to investigate a single vehicle accident that claimed the life of the driver.
Officers responded to Route 547 up the road from the Joint Base Lakehurst entrance on Sunday evening around 7:37 pm and saw a 2020 Kia Soul in the road with extensive damage and several trees in the road.
The driver, identified Monday morning as 76-year-old James Germann of Jackson Township, was brought to Community Medical Center last night by Manchester Emergency Medical Services after life saving measures were initiated at the scene of the accident.
Germann was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Manchester Police said that through their preliminary investigation they learned that Germann was driving north on Route 547, when the vehicle began to drift on to the dirt shoulder and hit several trees which led to severe damage of the vehicle and multiple airbag deployments.
Germann was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
