A Jackson Township man who fired his gun in a Toms River road residence Sunday around 1 am is facing charges for aggravated assault and weapons possession.

Police say 54-year old Lawrence Mann removed a woman from a room who was arguing with another man inside.

He returned with a gun, fired it into the couch next to the victims head.

A struggle for the 9 mm-handgun ensued.

Another round from the gun was fired.

The victim was finally able to take it away from Mann and hide it until police investigated the scene.

Mann then took off and went to bed.

Mann and the victim had been out at a local bar before returning home just ahead of the shooting.

He was charged with second degree aggravated assault and second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose before a trip to the Ocean County Jail.

The public is reminded that any persons arrested or charged with any offenses or crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
