New Jersey’s All-Time Temperature Records For February and March
We know that New Jersey weather can be like a roller coaster ride. Here are some extreme January and February numbers for the Garden State.
We thought we would take a look at just how much temperatures could fluctuate in February and March in New Jersey, and here's what the Office of the New Jersey State Climatologist website says.
These are the record high and low temperatures in the Garden State in the northern, central, and southern parts of the state, and the data proves just how wild the next 6 weeks can be in the Garden State.
Record High Temperatures in February:
Newark. 80 degrees on February 21, 2018
Freehold. 79 degrees on February 22, 2018
Atlantic City 75 degrees on February 24, 1985
Record Low Temperatures In February
Newark. -14 degrees on February 9, 1934
Freehold. -20 degrees on February 9, 1934
Atlantic City -11 degrees on February 12, 1979
Record High Temperatures In March
Newark. 89 degrees on March 29, 1945
Freehold. 86 degrees on March 29, 1945
Atlantic City 87 degrees on March 30, 1998
Record Low Temperatures In March
Newark. 6 degrees on March 4, 1943
Freehold -2 degrees on March 19, 1967
Atlantic City 2 degrees on March 3, 2014
We all want winter to end as quickly as possible, and those low-temperature records remind us that we may be further away than we'd like to think.
On the other hand, those high-temperature records do give us hope that those warm spring days we yearn for are right around the corner.
I guess it all depends on whether you are a weather glass half-full or half-empty kind of person. Either way, spring arrives on Tuesday, March 19th, and we can't wait.
