Farmers’ Almanac: A Brutally Cold & Wet Winter 2019-2020 Coming
I'm writing this on August 26th, 2019, which means that we still have nearly a month of summer left (28 days, to be exact), and nearly 120 days until winter 2019-2021.
But that's never stopped the folks over at the Farmers' Almanac from releasing their winter forecasts well ahead of time, and if they're right, we've got a wild ride ahead of us.
The 2019-2020 Winter Outlook from the Farmers' Almanac is calling for the Northeast to be "frosty, wet, and white" for the upcoming winter.
They're saying that the whole Northeast, from Boston to DC can expect "colder-than-normal temperatures for much of the upcoming winter," plus lots of precipitation.
And they don't only mean snow, either, saying that we can look forward to not just, "...a good amount of snow, but also a wintry mix of rain, sleet—especially along the coast".
And finally, they're saying that the middle of January will be the most brutal, with, "... copious amounts of snow, rain, sleet, and ice."
Now, as always, we do have to point out the fact that this forecast is being issued well ahead of time, so you do kind of have to take it with a grain of salt.
But, that being said, if winter 2019-2020 ends up being brutally cold and sopping wet, don't say we didn't warn you!
