The driver who failed to maintain their lane on Route 37 in Lakehurst Monday night was given a summons but his two passengers will face drug charges.

After pulling the 2004 Volvo over around 9 pm, police discovered Luis Garcia, 21, of Lacey under the influence of a controlled substance and Gabriele Tyrrell, 21, of Ocean Gate in possession of 25 bags of heroin and marijuana.

Garcia was also found in possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle.

They were both arrested and charged but during processing at headquarters, Garcia allegedly became violent and started punching the wall in the booking room which punctured some holes in the sheet-rock.

The driver whose name wasn't disclosed was released at the scene.

Garcia in total is charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and criminal mischief.

He was transported to Ocean County jail on a warrant.

Tyrrell was charged with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia and she was released on a summons.
