Dog Gets Shot After Inflicting Injury On Woman In Egg Harbor Township
Unfortunate news all around out of Egg Harbor Township this weekend.
Police had to make what was, surely, a very difficult call involving the safety of an EHT woman after she reportedly suffered multiple injuries after being attacked by a dog that accidentally escaped.
According to BreakingAC.com, police had to shoot the dog on the loose in an Egg Harbor Township development. The dog owner says the whole incident transpired the way it did due to the fact that when she and a family friend chased down the dog, the friend tried to grab it. The owner elaborated explaining that the dog reacted the way he did out of instinct since it really didn't know the friend that well.
When the friend fell while attempting to chase down the dog, police tried to intervene to make sure she was okay, and that's when the dog reportedly reacted aggressively towards the officer who wound up firing two shots at the Akita. Obviously, the goal is never to harm anyone or anything, but the whole situation is just unfortunate no matter how you try to slice it.
The dog didn't die, luckily. It's currently being treated for the wounds and will see a surgeon this week. The friend who was attacked reportedly suffered from some bruising in addition to the concussion previously mentioned.
Pet owners know all too well how scary it is when the dog escapes the yard. Usually, the situation doesn't escalate to a degree where the police need to be called. Hopefully, all involved make smooth recoveries and can get back to normal life as soon as possible. Find out more details HERE.
