Is it my imagination or does it appear like more people have decorated their homes for Halloween than in past years and is that a sign of what the Christmas season may bring?

As you likely know I am not a big fan of Halloween but I can certainly understand those with children trying to find some fun during these somewhat depressing times by loading up the front yard with ghosts and goblins.  If it’s any indication I would imagine Christmas decorations and lights will be going up shortly after the Halloween and fall stuff is put away.

It’s nice to hear Governor Murphy acknowledge that while positive COVID-19 test results continue to rise there is no indication that it has anything to do with the opening of indoor dining.  While I think he’s close to raising the limit from 25 to 50% of capacity that will not be a big help to some restaurants because they’ll still have to keep tables six feet apart which is a challenge.  Of course the struggling industry will take any good news they can get.

Since we moved our offices and studios to downtown Toms River several years ago I have always made sure to walk to the corner of Robbins and Washington Street to view the annual Toms River Veterans Day Parade.  It was simply a nice way to applaud those who have served and thank them for their service.

That parade is another casualty of the coronavirus although the Toms River Veterans Commission will hold a ceremony on Wednesday, November 11th at the Protectors of Freedom sculpture that is located in Bey Lea Park on Bay Avenue.  That ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. and for more information visit tomsrivertownship.com.

A reminder that it’s not too late to sign-up for Sunday’s 3rd annual Causeway Family 5K Run and Walk which will take place at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin and benefit Fulfill.  The auto group has been able to donate $22,000 from the first two runs to help fight hunger in our community and they hope this year’s effort is the most successful ever.

You can register right up until race day on Sunday and receive a T-shirt at raceforum.com/causeway.
