A construction worker was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Tuesday after an accident occurred at a job site that sent him into a ditch.

Marlboro Police learned that a construction accident occurred on Buckley Road in the area of Blueberry Hill injuring a laborer around 9:54 am.

The laborer, who is employed with Precision Paving located in Tinton Falls, suffered injuries to his lower extremities as a result of a partial collapse of a ditch that he was working in.

Police officers and other workers on the job site helped remove the worker from the ditch.

At the time of the accident Buckley Road was closed to traffic due to a utility improvement project.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

The laborer, a 64 year old male from Long Branch was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Marlboro First Aid for assessment and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Occupation Safety and Health Administration and Ptlm. Ian Thompson of the Marlboro Township Police Department.
