Brick teen may have fabricated attack in the woods
A Brick teenager who said he was attacked by a light-skinned black male in the woods off of Drum Point Road this week, is being questioned by police after they determined the incident did not occur as originally reported.
The 16-year old told police that he was riding his bike on a trail Wednesday afternoon when he came across a light-skinned black male about 6-feet tall with a muscular build and a “scruffy unshaven beard."
As the juvenile rode closer to the man, who was walking in the same direction that he was riding his bike in, the juvenile said he told the man, “Excuse me.”
The teen told police that at that time the black male knocked him off his bicycle and beat him up.
During the scuffle, the juvenile sustained superficial cuts on his left arm from what he described as an “unknown weapon.”
Police had EMTs respond to treat the juvenile, but the juvenile refused treatment.
Juvenile Detectives are continuing to work with the juvenile and the family to get to the bottom of the initial allegations.
Brick Police want you to know that there was never any threat to public safety.
