BREAKING: Search for swimmer in South Toms River
SOUTH TOMS RIVER - A report of a swimmer in distress draws a horde of first-responders to this township, and a search is broadening in the waters alongside Mathis Plaza.

Beginning at about 3:30 PM, police, fire and ambulance crews began rapidly converging in the mini-park along Route 166, south of the bridge over the Toms.
A source close to the investigation suggested that the search might be augmented with drones, a bloodhound, and a helicopter team.
It is not yet known how the situation came to police attention.
