Is it possible for New Jersey to do well in a national ranking of any positive kind? If recent surveys are any indication, the answer is a big no.

This is the week we all had to digest that New Jersey is the most hated state in the nation, which I think is wrong and unfair for a great state like we have, but I might even be more upset by the fact that we're getting used to rankings like this.

All you have to do is search around a little bit and you'll be able to find a multitude of other rankings that Garden State residents should be disappointed and angry about. Here are just a few of them.

8th Worst State To Drive In. This was a report from WalletHub, and anyone who has driven on our road knows it can be a challenge, but this is a tough one to argue. Having said that, if you turn it around, because of our driving conditions we need to be the most patient drivers in the world. Isn't that worth something? I tried.

The Worst State For Finding Love. Ouch. According to Slot Source, when you consider things like single households, searches for dating apps and cost of dating, the Garden State is the worst state.

6th Worst State To Make A Living In. According to Forbes, New Jersey is not exactly the place career dreams are made. We are in the bottom fifth of states in the nation.

I hope we don't get used to these rankings, although I fear we will. I do know this. We get dealt a bad hand on these things all the time, and I don't think we're nearly as bad as our reputation would have people outside the state believe.

We're great people in a beautiful state with a lot to offer, and we need the rest of the country and the rest of the world to know it. Or...maybe we're quietly performing a genius move and keeping our greatness our own little secret. Brilliant!
