Bouncing around a bit on a Monday:

If ever there was a weekend in which the only outside way to beat the heat was to be at the beach this was it.  While inland temperatures were in the 90s, mostly southeast breezes made things much more comfortable at the beach and with water temperatures in the mid-70’s it was clearly the place to me.

After spending most of the day there Saturday we were going to skip Sunday but decided to head over at 3:30 p.m. and got three bonus hours with ideal conditions which made for a very relaxing late day visit.  It’s all about the wind direction and if the forecast of mostly west winds today is correct then you might just want to stay in the air conditioned comfort of your home.

We got a preview of what Major League Baseball will look like this weekend with summer exhibition games in New York and Philadelphia without fans of course.  My initial reaction was it’s pretty boring even with piped-in music and in the case of CitiField where the Mets play cardboard fan cut-outs.

The shortened 60-game season opens Thursday night with the Yankees in Washington while the Mets & Phillies play their openers a day later at home.

The Last Dance World Series is down to 32 high school teams after pool play last week and unfortunately two of the five Shore teams that advanced had to withdraw on Sunday because of COVID-19 concerns.  Point Boro and MS Baseball (Middletown South) have both dropped out over positive test results which leaves teams representing Jackson Memorial, Howell and Middletown North as the shore teams set to play games in the South Jersey bracket on Tuesday.

The Jaguars play at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton while Howell & Middletown North players will be in action at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood.  For more details visit shoresportsnetwork.com

In closing.  Not wearing a mask is not about your health but showing concern for others.  Don’t be selfish.
